Each month HMC sets aside the second Saturday in the month to get together for fellowship and a walk at various venues. This month we were told that we were going to Shelter Rock in the Magaliesburg for an 8Km walk. After a lengthy drive and being misled by two GPS systems we finally got to our destination. We were told by the guide that the walk is 4Km up and 4Km down……the mountain. I think at this point many folk wondered if they should not rather just wait in the parking lot for the rest of the group to do the 8Km walk. But all decided to do the walk. It was fantastic – but very hard. The oldest in our group was 74….Juan you were fantastic and kept the “woman power” flag flying high. The summit was 1711m and our app told us that we had climbed 423m. On getting back we enjoyed some fruit and hot dogs – a very welcome snack. For those who are wondering if they should come on the next walk – the answer is YES. It was great. For peace of mind we will now be rating the walks from 1 to 5 (1 being an easy stroll and 5 being a difficult hike).
