A hike back in time…This month’s hike took place at J-life and what a treat indeed. We were all welcomed to a hot cup of coffee and rusks, whereby Uncle Tony took the opportunity to give us a briefing on the plans for the morning. To our pleasant surprise we were informed that we would not be walking the first 3kms of the route and instead would be sitting at the back of a trailer being pulled by a tractor. Once we reached the boarder of the farm the tractor stopped and the hike began. We walked up the “old boer highway” and when we got to the top of the hill, Uncle Tony gave us an in-depth history lesson with the ruins of an old boer lookout point surrounding us, and what an interest lesson indeed.
On route back to base majority of the hikers decided to walk the 3kms, while the others decided to enjoy the slow tractor ride and take in the beautiful scenery.
Back at base there were hot dogs and crisps waiting for us.
As you can see there is never a dull moment and looking forward to seeing you at our next hike which will be taking place on the 12th of July 2014.
