Magnificent Mondoro! This month’s hike was at the Mondoro Private Game farm just outside of Heidelberg and what a hike indeed. We could not have asked for better weather and all were welcomed with a nice cup of coffee before being introduced to Henry & Kyle, our hosts for the day. Henry was the braai master and Kyle our guide on his quad bike. Off we ventured into the enclosed portion of the game farm and it was not even 10mins into the hike when we saw a blouwildebees and eland. The air was fresh and crisp, and God’s creation breathtaking. The various game that was spotted was eland, blouwildebees, zebra, warthog and springbok.
On route back to base we started smelling the aroma that every true South African loves…braai vleis!! Henry truly out did himself as braai master and made some of the best hamburgers as well as boerewors rolls I have tasted in a long time, not to mention the patties and boerewors are homemade…Mondoro style.
The stats for the day were as follows:
Distance – 5kms
Calories – 200
The hikes just keep getting better, and we are looking forward to welcoming all on our next adventure on 14 June 2014.
